#WE ARE LISTENING
We want to recognise some of the people and organisations who are currently taking important steps towards helping the Yazidi people. In order to do so we are here providing a blog of the causes that we have found that respond to the topics of:
Accountability / Sexual Violence / Missing Persons / Child Recruitment / ISIS Genocidal Intent / Kill Sites and Mass Graves / Destruction of Religious Temples / Plight of other Religious Minorities and Sunni Arabs living under ISIS occupation.
Yazda providing school buses
Yazda is pleased to announce the ‘’Sinjar Students Transportation Project’’ funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Iraq Community Resilience Initiative (ICRI).
This project aims to increase school attendance among returnees in Snuni, Sinjar and the surrounding villages and towns. For many students, particularly those from periphery communities, limited access to transportation is a key barrier to school attendance: schools are often far from where students live, school buses are not yet running, and families may lack resources to provide their own transportation.
GLOBAL HOPE NETWORK INTERNATIONAL
Of the many problems that continue among the Yazidi families are lack of access to education and work. Many children have not been able to attend school for 4 years, which causes a huge learning gap and hinders their future potential for work. The school for Yazidi refugees is too far away, so the families that GHNI works with need a reliable form of transportation. To solve this problem GNHI plan to purchase 3 mini-buses, one for each camp, which would be used to take the children to and from school. During the "off" hours, the vehicles will be used to provide income sources for families, such as taxis or by providing transportation for adults to their jobs.

ICMP - THE INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON MISSING PERSONS
ICMP forensic experts are working alongside personnel from the Mass Graves Department of the Iraqi Martyrs’ Foundation, the Medico-Legal Directorate of the Ministry of Health, the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs and the United Nations Investigative Team to promote accountability for crimes committed by Da’esh.
FIONa Bennett
Yazda UK board member Fiona Bennett made a parachute jump to raise funds for victims of ISIS in Sinjar/Iraq. Fiona was able to collect over 200 pallets of medical supplies with the help of NHS Scotland and many public and private clinics in the UK. Through online donations, Fiona was able to send these supplies to Iraq. On 30 June 2018 these supplies arrived at the port in Basra-Iraq.
