Global Centre for Responsibility to Protect

The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect was established in February 2008 to promote universal acceptance and effective operational implementation of the norm of the "Responsibility to Protect" populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. Through its programs, events and publications, the Global Centre serves as a resource and a forum for governments, international institutions and non-governmental organizations working to protect populations from mass atrocities.

Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect

For the past 10 years, the Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect has engaged with partners across the region to protect vulnerable communities from atrocity crimes. Funded by The University of Queensland and the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Centre works to develop regional expertise on atrocity prevention and establish links between regional and global institutions.

Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre

The Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre seeks to raise awareness of the evils of genocide with a particular focus on the Holocaust and the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, and to teach about the consequences of prejudice, racism, antisemitism, homophobia and xenophobia and the dangers of indifference, apathy, and silence to freedom and democracy.

Born out of the fight to end the Genocide in Darfur, Sudan, STAND is devoted to creating a sustainable student network that actively fights genocide and mass atrocities wherever they may occur. By creating political will, STAND strives to hold elected officials accountable for preventing and ending genocide and mass atrocities, and by supporting young peacebuilders in conflict-affected and post-conflict countries, they help communities build resistance to conflict. STAND is the only student-led organization focused on genocide and atrocity prevention.

The Society for Threatened Peoples

The Society for Threatened Peoples (STP) has been campaigning for over 50 years for the rights of threatened minorities and against grave human rights violations. They research and document human rights violations. They work directly with those affected. And they denounce grievances with governments and at the United Nations.

The situation of the Yazidis and Yazidi women in particular has been a focus of the STP for years. Some of the organization’s partners are Nobel laureate Nadia Murad, Aurora Prize laureate Mirza Dinnayi and psychologist Jan Ilhan Kizilhan.

The Jiyan Foundation

The Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is a non-governmental human rights organization based in Kurdistan, Iraq and Germany. Since 2005, the Jiyan Foundation has been providing support to survivors of human rights abuses in Kurdistan and Iraq. Today, the Jiyan Foundation runs a network of eleven trauma rehabilitation centers in north Iraq, including special departments for traumatized women and children, a clinic for Yazidi women who survived enslavement by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), services for juvenile detainees and female prisoners, rights and justice and a human rights education program.

AMAR International

AMAR International is a charity that has been rebuilding and improving the lives of some of the world’s poorest and most disadvantaged people for the last 27 years. It provides comprehensive and sustainable medical and education programmes. The vast majority of its staff are locally trained and educated in the Middle East.

Following the ISIS invasion of Iraq in 2014, AMAR teams delivered frontline emergency services, including psycho-social support, to many hundreds of thousands of Yazidis through their purpose-built clinics in the IDP camps in the Kurdish region of Northern Iraq.
